Dissatisfied with his career prospects and growth working in desktop IT support, Micah decided to register for the Lighthouse Labs Web Development Bootcamp and pursue a career as a Web Developer. He is now working at Amazon as a Web Development Engineer, where he is facing new challenges daily and learning constantly. We recently caught up with him to see what the last year has been like since he left Lighthouse Labs.
Prior to the Web Development Bootcamp, Wesley Wong studied Nursing at McGill University. This experience inspired him to create Florence as his final project for the program. Florence is an application to help speed up the communication between nurses and clients. Wesley is currently completing his last week as the Lighthouse Labs’ Web Development Intern in Vancouver. To celebrate, we spoke with him about his experience as both an employee and alumni, along with insights into how he created his final project.
Matt completed both our Part-Time Intro to Web Development course and our Web Development Bootcamp in Toronto. He is also a beloved part of the LHL family as a former Junior Web Development Intern of ours. Today, he is working as a Junior Developer at BuySellAds, where he is helping to develop an internal sales software solution. He also spends his spare time creating coding solutions for his parents’ dentistry practice. Read further to learn more about how he ended up taking the part-time course and how that led him to where he is today.
Trevor is a graduate of the Lighthouse Labs Web Development Bootcamp in Victoria and is also a mentor for us. After transitioning from the public sector to tech, Trevor has found success in his new career as a Software Developer.
The expansive network of developers is absolutely key in how we deliver our unique brand of education. Just ask any of our alumni and nine times out of ten, they’ll say that “the mentors” were the most valuable part of their education experience.
Karolina is an Account Manager at Go2mobi. She finished the Lighthouse Labs Intro to Web Development Course in July of 2016 and transitioned into the tech sector shortly after. She currently sits on the board of YYJ Tech Ladies, a community built to foster connections and mentorships for women in the Victoria tech community. Karolina is also an accomplished writer, having been published both locally and nationally in publications like the Globe and Mail.
Dan is an instructor at our Calgary campus and has been delivering amazing free workshops in HTML & CSS for the community. Dan comes from a diverse background, covering everything from computer science to a Masters in Divinity, but has always had a passion for teaching. Working just down the street at Telus Digital, Ruxandra is is a very familiar face around Lighthouse Labs in Vancouver! Since graduating Bootcamp just over a year ago, she's not only kicking butt in her role as a Developer, but has been contributing to the dev community over and over by mentoring, lending her skills to Ladies Learning Code and being an exemplary role model for aspiring women coders. We caught up with Ruxandra to learn what she's been up to in her One Year After Bootcamp.

James Matsuba is a very familar face around Lighthouse Labs Vancouver.
